It is with great pleasure that we announce the formation of the American Lymphedema Framework Project (ALFP). The ALFP is a national initiative developed under the leadership of recognized clinical experts and investigators in the field of lymphedema. A collaboration of healthcare providers, researchers, patients, and industry representatives, the ALFP will develop and evaluate appropriate health care services for patients with all forms of lymphedema and advance the quality of lymphedema care both in the United States and worldwide. To move this charge forward, the ALFP has formed a partnership with the International Lymphoedema Framework (ILF), a UK-based research partnership founded in 2002 which has made tremendous strides in raising the profile of lymphedema and improving the standards of care in Great Britain.
There has been tremendous growth for the ALFP. The first big event of 2009 was the American Lymphedema Framework Project National Stakeholder's Conference held in Chicago, Illinois on March 16th, 2009. This one-day meeting was open to all individuals and groups that wished to have a voice in the ALFP, including patients, therapists, physicians, nurses, researchers, industry representatives, and anyone else that wanted to be heard. Planning was on-going and all updates have been posted under the "ABOUT US" tab under the "STAKEHOLDERS CONF" link.
Thank you for visiting the American Lymphedema Framework Project website! By forming a partnership among all lymphedema stakeholders, we can move the entire field forward. Please join us in this effort!
